Tracking the Pipeline of Antibiotics in Development

Pew Charitable Trusts. 05/2017 This issue brief, updated in May 2017, assesses antibiotics currently in clinical development. The list of these antibiotics was created to shed light on the antibiotic pipeline, evaluate public policies, and monitor the potential impact on public health. It is updated regularly, and identifies each drug, manufacturer, potential targets, and stage in the development process. It shows 41 new antibiotics in development that would potentially address many, but not all, resistant bacteria. (Text)
