NEMSMA Annual Meeting Held at the 2017 Pinnacle Conference

The National EMS Management Association held their annual meeting on August 8, 2017 at the Pinnacle Conference in Boca Raton, Fla.  John Chamberlain of Medserve serves as the NEMSMA Executive Director. Immediate past president Mike Touchstone reported that he and other NEMSMA members and officers had conducted the initial Managing Officer's exam at the Pinnacle Conference. Pat Songer reported on NEMSMA's role in conjunction with JEMS in establishing the Alliance on EMS Resiliency, announced at 2017 EMS Today Conference. The Alliance involves almost all of the key EMS, physician and emergency medical dispatch associations and other interested industry members. In May, the Alliance held its initial meeting in Washington, D.C., where members shared ideas and resources on EMS crew resiliency, stress and suicide. NEMSMA met with the EMS Chiefs of Canada and organizations in the UK, where they are ahead of the U.S. in crew health and welfare initiatives/ The groups met to consider the development of an International EMS Management Alliance to share best practices. The Committee on Accreditation report by liaison Allison Bloom showed that NEMSMA has been busy accrediting management credential hours at EMS Today 2017 in Salt Lake City and Pinnacle 2017 in Boca Raton, Fla.
