Clinical characteristics of bacteraemia caused by burkholderia cepacia complex species and antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates in a medical centre in taiwan

1. Fifty-four bacteraemic Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC) isolates were identified to the species level by the Bruker Biotyper MALDI-TOF MS system and 16S rRNA and recA genes sequencing analysis.2. Bruker Biotyper MALDI-TOF MS displays better performances to discriminate BCC species than 16S RNA sequencing analysis (79.6% vs. 16.7%).3. Higher rates of ceftazidime and meropenem resistance were found in B. cepacia isolates than B. cenocepacia and other species.4. Bacteraemia caused by BCC species other than B.
