American Gastroenterological Association Distinguished Achievement Award

American Gastroenterological Association Distinguished Achievement Award Established in 1968, the Distinguished Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has made major accomplishments in clinical research, basic research, or an allied field that has advanced the science and or practice of gastroenterology. Eligibility and Standards The recipient should be an individual with a coherent and substantial body of important clinical or basic research in gastroenterology. AGA membership is required at the time of nomination submission. Solicitation of Nominations Any AGA member may submit a nomination. Nominations are solicited by the AGA Chair, via a memo in July to the AGA Governing Board, Council Section Chairs, Committee Chairs, and Task Force Chairs. In addition, a letter is mailed directly to the membership requesting nominations for all recognition prizes in July. The prizes are posted on the AGA website to solicit nominations from the AGA membership. Process of Selection The selection committee consists of nine members: the Chair of AGA, who shall serve as the chair of the committee; the Editor of Gastroenterology; the Editor of Clinical Gastroenterology & Hepatology; the Vice-Chair of the Research Awards Panel, the Chair of the AGA Institute Research Policy Committee; a former Distinguished Achievement Award recipient, and three members-at-large, all of whom shall be selected by the AGA Chair.
