Relationship between baseline characteristics and response to risedronate treatment for osteoporosis: data from three Japanese phase III trials

ConclusionsTherapeutic response in elderly patients is consistent, but early initiation of risedronate treatment may help prevent fractures. Risedronate-induced increase in BMD is lower in patients with vitamin D deficiency, suggesting that vitamin D supplementation is important to achieve optimal treatment response.
