Even though it's costly, why Largo Medical Center expanded its transplant program

The first recipient of a liver transplant at Largo Medical Center is out of intensive care and recovering well, according to the physician who leads the hospital ’s transplant program. Dr. Hussein Osman-Mohamed, chief of the hospital’s Transplant Institute of Florida, performed the liver transplant in late January, expanding the program the hospital started in 2015 with kidney transplants.
