Disseminated Nocardia farcinica Infection in a Patient with Steroid-dependent Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia: Case Report and Literature Review
We describe a 64-year-old female with autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) who was steroid dependent and on cyclosporine immunosuppressive therapy. Nocardia farcinica was recovered from the patient's bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimen and several blood cultures.
Abstract Objective: Autoimmune conditions tend to cluster in subjects with Addison's disease (AD) and probably also among their relatives. The aim of the study was to estimate the frequency of the endocrine gland-specific autoantibodies in first-degree relatives of patients with AD. CONCLUSIONS: PNH should be considered during differential diagnosis among patients with idiopathic PVT. Small PNH clones can be detected in PVT patients that we cannot clearly determine its relationship with PVT. We need furthermore studies to explore the potential role of this finding. We present a case of severe vitD deficiency-osteomalacia after gastric bypass operation for morbid obesity, treated with ergocalciferol intramuscularly. A 45-year-old woman was presented with hip pain and muscle weakness, which led ultimately to immobilization in a wheelchair. Fifteen years ago, she underwent roux-en-Y gastric by-pass for morbid obesity. Occasionally, she was treated with multivitamin supplements. Conclusion: Our observation further confirmed Yasuj district as a human endemic area for fascioliasis in Iran. The study also highlighted the importance of clinical features together with eosinophilia, as key parameters, in the diagnosis of human fascioliasis. ConclusionsThe extent of this patient ’s light chain deposition disease was thought to be caused by a combination of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance, and the interval decrease in lung nodule size after restarting antiretroviral therapy confirms this hypothesis and also highligh ts a potentially unique contribution of the hypergammaglobulinemia to this disease process in patients with human immunodeficiency virus and patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome .
Conclusion: This expanded 50-patient cohort of men with extensive prior therapy confirms our earlier report of high response rates, low toxicity, and improved quality of life with 177Lu-PSMA radioligand therapy. On progression, rechallenge 177Lu-PSMA demonstrated higher response rates than other systemic therapies.
