Efficacy of Lacosamide in Epilepsia Partialis Continua (P4.254)

CONCLUSIONS:Use of lacosamide in treatment of status epilepticus (SE) has been reported in 136 episodes out of which 31% were focal SE. The treatment protocol for focal SE is not well defined and often leads to polypharmacy and additive side effects. Lacosamide was chosen in our case because of previously suggested synergistic effects with levetiracetam, favorable pharmacokinetic attributes with no drug/drug interactions, and favorable adverse event profile including little or no sedation. Its use led to rapid resolution of seizures and avoidance of ICU related complications. The use of lacosamide in EPC especially as a combination with levetiracetam needs to be confirmed in larger samplesDisclosure: Dr. Jadhav has nothing to disclose.
