ConclusionMale-specific prevention and treatment strategies for ASCVD are needed in eastern China. In addition, WHR, WHtR, non-HDL-C, and TC/HDL-C which not included in the the China-PAR equation were also independently associated with 10-year ASCVD risk score categories.

In this study, we sought to determine the pharmacological effects of JKW, and the mechanisms responsible, on hepatic steatosis in free fatty acids (FFAs)-stimulated HepG2 cells and in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed obese mice. Treatment with JKW significantly decreased intracellular lipid accumulation in vitro. Furthermore, JKW significantly triggered the phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1) and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and modulated glucose and lipid metabolism via an AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway. Analysis of serum parameters in HFD-fed mice showed that JKW improved glucose lev...

Abdel-Latif, Mona Ismail, Mahmoud A.O. Dawood, Ahmed M. HassanAbstractIndustrial products contained nano-zinc oxide (ZnONP) can gain access to the aquaculture environment causing hazardous effects on the living biota. Therefore, this work was planned to examine the ameliorative effects of dietary supplementation of lycopene (LYC), resveratrol (RES) against ZnONP toxicity in Nile tilapia. Five groups with 20 fish each were used; Control, received tap wa...

This study compared outcomes using the ACC/AHA risk algorithm and the Framingham risk score (FRS) tool in The Heart Outcomes Prevention Evaluation (HOPE) 3 study.MethodsWe compared outcomes using the ACC/AHA algorithm and the FRS with those seen in HOPE-3, which randomized participants to 10mg rosuvastatin or placebo. First co-primary outcome was the composite of death from cardiovascular causes, nonfatal myocardial infarction or nonfatal stroke; second co-primary outcome additionally included heart failure, cardiac arrest and revascularization.ResultsRelative risks using risk scores were similar to those observed in the H...

Understanding the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) promises to be key for optimal cancer therapy, especially in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Integrating spatial resolution of immune cells with laser capture microdissection gene expression profiles, we defined distinct TIME stratification in TNBC, with implications for current therapies including immune checkpoint blockade. TNBCs with an immunoreactive microenvironment exhibited tumoral infiltration of granzyme B+CD8+ T cells (GzmB+CD8+ T cells), a type 1 IFN signature, and elevated expression of multiple immune inhibitory molecules including indoleamine 2,3-di...

The Hedgehog-signaling pathway is an important target in cancer research and regenerative medicine; yet, on the cellular level, many steps are still poorly understood. Extensive studies of the bulk behavior of the key proteins in the pathway established that during signal transduction they dynamically localize in primary cilia, antenna-like solitary...
