The program will be launched in June 2016 and be repeated in 2017 in conjunction with the U.S. Brig Niagara visit. A total of 300 youth will participate in a full-day hands-on camp each year. Students will be selected from underrepresented and underserved populations in the greater Toledo, Sandusky, and Detroit metropolitan areas. Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial staff will work collaboratively with the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce Maritime Celebration planning committee to plan, organize, and execute the Centennial Youth Maritime Explorers program.
