Tinnitus—More Than Ringing in the Ears

Tinnitus is not merely ringing in the ears. It is a condition that has distressed many a great mind—from the Spanish master, Francisco Goya, to Charles Darwin, to Pete Townshend of The Who, among many, many others. It is an incredibly common ailment, afflicting millions worldwide and is a key symptom in survivors of traumatic brain injury. Tinnitus is the single most common service-related disability reported by veterans. The focus of this issue of the Neuroimaging Clinics is on the clinical aspects of tinnitus, its imaging evaluation, and surgical and endovascular techniques used in its treatment.
