Study finds emergency CT use leads to diagnosis changes

Conclusion: Physicians’ diagnoses and admission decisions changed frequently after CT, and diagnostic uncertainty was alleviated. "   "For common referral indications to CT in emergency department settings, physicians’ diagnoses and admission decisions change frequently after CT and diagnostic uncertainty is alleviated; these findings suggest that current ordering practices are clinically justified."   How I read this: CT shows the ED physician that patient does not have PE or aortic dissection (you know for those routine CT PE and CTA abdomen ordered). Turns out it was just pneumonia.  Or even constipation.  Management changed!   10/9/2015 2:38:52 PMadopted canuck we actually make a difference after all............
