Interprofessional collaborative practice and learning: Getting the language right

I was recently asked to present a talk on interprofessional collaborative practice in healthcare at a Structural Heart and Interventional Cardiology conference in Melbourne, Australia. Even though this was not my comfort zone of clinical practice (I am a former intensive care nurse), I enjoyed listening to presentations and live demonstration cases of highly complex technical procedures typically undertaken in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Throughout the conference I was struck by the number of different team members that exist in this health care ( “heart”) team - all working together to produce the best outcomes for patients.
