New FAQs for Early Stage Investigators

Are you an Early Stage Investigator (ESI)? A new FAQ is available: Does my ESI status or an extension to my ESI status impact the 4-year rule for other NIH grant activity codes (e.g., K99/R00)?  No. ESI policies and the “no more than 4 years of postdoctoral research experience” requirement for some of the NIH’s funding opportunities (e.g., K99/R00) are two separate policies and do not impact one another. See the below new FAQs: In a Katz application, is it permissible to cite data from a publicly available database that doesn’t have a DOI?  A PI hoping to apply for a Katz award has run some simple calculations that support the proposed approach. Acquisition of data was not required for these calculations. Would these fall under the definition of preliminary data?  When applying for a Katz award, is it permissible to propose to use data or biosamples from a database or repository that is not publicly available (and therefore doesn’t have a DOI)?
