EMAS position statement: Thyroid disease and menopause
Women experience menopause at a particular stage of their lifetime. On the other hand, subclinical hypothyroidism, mainly due to autoimmune thyroiditis, is a common endocrine disease in women during their reproductive years (the prevalence rate is 6 –10 %) [1] and is often present or arises during the menopausal transition.
