9 Lung cancer physician grading of radiology alerted chest x-rays to optimise diagnostic pathways in a resource limited setting

Optimising lung cancer diagnostic pathways, reduces upstaging and benefits 5-year survival. Resource-limited settings may have difficulty attaining 62-day or National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway targets. One stop, hot-reported CT/physician clinics provide an opportunity to consolidate appointments, but are resource intensive, therefore not practical for all abnormal chest x-rays (CXRs). Aim: We propose a methodology, using lung cancer physician grading of radiology flagged CXRs to allocate ring-fenced weekly slots on a risk-stratified basis.
