Given recent efforts to legalize and decriminalize recreational marijuana, its use has become increasingly common in patients seeking plastic and reconstructive procedures, including gender affirming surgery.1 Although the use of cannabis has generally been considered lower risk than other recreational substances, recent studies have suggested it may still be associated with an increased surgical complication rate.2 Moreover, individuals undergoing chest wall masculinization may exhibit higher rates of anxiety, depression, and marijuana usage.
