Association Between Vertebral Endplate Defects and Patient-reported Symptoms: An Immunohistochemical Study Investigating the COX-2/PGE-2/EP-4 Axis
Low back pain is characterized by discomfort, muscle tension, or stiffness located between the ribcage and the upper part of the buttocks. Low back pain persisting>3 months is termed as chronic low back pain[1], which has become a worldwide problem affecting 70% to 90% of the world's population[2]. The etiology of chronic low back pain remains a puzzle[2]. Although a variety of anatomical structures can lead to pain, components of the lumbar spine are regarded as the primary sources, with the intervertebral disc having received the most attention[3,4].
