Prenatal diagnosis and outcomes for fetuses with suspected pelvic kidney

Pelvic kidney is a form of renal ectopia, occurring with a frequency of 1 in 900 live births [1]. The pelvic kidneys are located in the presacral region, below the aortic bifurcation. Pelvic region localization is due to a lack of elevation of the kidneys in the early embryonic period [2]. The pelvic kidneys were malrotated and their hiluses were displaced anteriorly. Ultrasonographic diagnosis of the pelvic kidney is difficult due to the shadow of the pelvic iliac crests and intestines. The anterior position of the hilum, horizontal placement of the kidney, and smaller size of the kidney make diagnosis more difficult.
