Iron deficiency ‐induced thrombocytosis presenting with blue toe syndrome
We report the case of a 38-year-old Saudi male who presented with blue toe syndrome and laboratory investigations revealed severe thrombocytosis secondary to iron deficiency. The patient was managed with analgesics, antiplatelets, anticoagulation, intravenous fluids, and iron supplementation. Subsequently, his symptoms resolved within a few days. IDIT is crucial to consider as a possible cause of microvascular thrombosis disorders, especially in patients with severe thrombocytosis.
