Change the game, not the players

I read with great interest the study on the results of pediatric surgery registrars performing supervised hypospadias surgery (1). The authors ’ statement in the introduction to their article does not match the results of their study. In a sense, they come to the conclusion that hypospadias repair is not a technically demanding operation and is not a complex procedure, but gives variable results both in the hands of experienced surgeons and in the hands of registrars. I can understand the wish of a registrar to be involved more in hypospadias surgery for faster acquisition of surgical skills.
