Harnessing Tamm-Plasmon Polaritons in Cantor Sequence Photonic Quasicrystals for Enhanced Cancer Cell Detection

AbstractIn this paper, we present a novel approach for cancer cell detection using the Cantor sequence-based Tamm plasmon polariton (TPP) platform, addressing the critical challenge of accurate and timely identification in medical diagnostics. The TPP platform, leveraging its unique interaction with electromagnetic waves, exhibits enhanced sensitivity to subtle changes in the surrounding environment ’s refractive index. We investigated two distinct cancer cell types, Jurkat and HeLa, through comprehensive theoretical analysis, examining the platform’s response to variations in refractive index induced by cancer cells. Our results demonstrate remarkable sensitivity, with 302.2802 nm/RIU sen sitivity for Jurkat cells and 302.1365 nm/RIU for HeLa cells, indicating the platform’s ability to distinguish between different cancer cell types precisely. The Tamm plasmon polariton platform based on Cantor sequences exhibits the capacity to detect subtle environmental changes effectively. Mor eover, our proposed method offers high sensitivity and holds promise for label-free, non-invasive cancer screening, which could significantly impact medical diagnostics and patient care. Further research and development of this pioneering detection platform have the potential to advance cancer scree ning techniques, leading to earlier diagnosis and improved treatment choices, thereby representing a notable step forward in the battle against cancer.
