Loss of muscle mass and sarcopenia are common in CKD and ESRD, and sarcopenia can worsen insidiously in patients with advancing CKD. The temporal dynamics of sarcopenia in patients with progressive loss of kidney function, and its association with future outcomes, is unclear.
