Medicare Practice and Payment Differences by Neurosurgeon Gender

To the Editor The research conducted by Oshinowo and colleagues explored gender disparities in Medicare practices and payments among neurosurgeons serving the fee-for-service Medicare population. The study revealed notable variations in practice patterns and reimbursements based on gender, with female neurosurgeons receiving lower reimbursements compared with their male counterparts for the same primary procedures. However, the analysis carried out in the study had several shortcomings.
