Cutting to the chase on knee osteoarthritis rehabilitation: An overview of Cochrane reviews

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic disease and one of the leading causes of disability worldwide (Safiri et al., 2020). Also, osteoarthritis is associated with high costs globally (Losina et al., 2015). Hips and knees are the most common affected joints and its prevalence have doubled within 10 years (Palazzo et al., 2016). One in four people over 50 years old will have knee osteoarthritis throughout their lives (Litwic et al., 2013). Typical symptoms of knee osteoarthritis include pain, stiffness in the morning, muscle weakness and functional limitation (Hunter and Bierma-Zeinstra, 2019).
