The impact of sustainable diets οn cognitive function in an ageing society: A mini-review

A significant increase in the population of older adults has been recorded during the recent decades and it is estimated that by 2050, the number of adults exceeding 60  years of age will have doubled [1]. On one hand, increased longevity is highly beneficial as life span lengthens, while on the other, longevity is not usually accompanied by a healthy status and a good quality of life. Even though, older adults are living longer, they are often at risk for chroni c diseases, cognitive and functional impairment, and disability [2].
