Letter Regarding: “Alcohol-Containing Versus Aqueous-Based Solutions for Skin Preparation in Abdominal Surgery”

We read with great interest the recent article by Peristeri et  al. titled "Alcohol-Containing versus Aqueous-Based Solutions for Skin Preparation in Abdominal Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis" published in the Journal of Surgical Research.1 Through a meta-analysis of 11 randomized controlled trials involving 12,072 participants undergoing abdomi nal surgery, the authors assessed the efficacy of alcohol-based chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) versus aqueous povidone-iodine (PVI) in preventing surgical site infections (SSIs).
