Emerging Role of Axial Length Trajectories in the Management of Myopia

Parents and those in the health care sector who work with children will be familiar with childhood growth curves for height and weight. These normative values have existed since the late 19th century and can help predict various disorders such as undernutrition, obesity, and growth-related or endocrine conditions. Normative values can guide diagnosis and allow for timely interventions. Given the association of increased axial length with myopia, is it feasible and worthwhile to add axial length trajectory to standard childhood reference data?
