Sleep health predicted glucose metabolism among pregnant women: A prospective cohort study

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), which refers to abnormal glucose metabolism with onset or first recognition during pregnancy, is common [1]. The pooled prevalence of GDM was 14.7  % worldwide [2]. GDM is related to short-term and long-term complications of the mother and fetus, including cesarean section, preterm delivery, pre-eclampsia, fetal death, born large for gestational age, infant obesity, and type 2 diabetes [3]. An estimated 21.3 million live births (16.2 %) we re affected by pregnancy-related hyperglycemia, including GDM [4].
