Considerations in Early Autism Diagnosis

To the Editor We read with interest the study by Harstad et al, which concluded that 37% of the sample with higher baseline adaptive functioning scores and female sex did not maintain the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We extend this scientific discourse with 3 additional points that necessitate further inquiry.
