Effects of Proton Pump Inhibitors on Esophageal Remodeling and Fibrosis in Eosinophilic Esophagitis
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is an immune-mediated, progressive fibrostenotic disease. Although proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a first-line EoE treatment due to their anti-inflammatory effects, their effects on remodeling/fibrosis – which are likely driven in part by transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) are not fully understood.
