7. Latent Class Models for Health Promotion and Risk Behaviors Differ from Mid-Adolescence to Young Adulthood Across Health Needs, Well-Visits, and Race/Ethnicity
Despite documented morbidity and mortality and engagement in risk behaviors, most adolescents and young adults (AYAs) are typically “healthy.” Few studies have examined how health promotion behaviors co-occur with AYAs’ risk behaviors and other health needs. The goal of this study was to describe adolescents’ health promotion and risk behavior profile at two developmental stages: mid-adolescence and young adulthood. At e ach developmental stage, we also examined the relationship between adolescents’ health promotion and risk behavior profile with health needs, well-visits, and background factors (sex, race/ethnicity).
