15. “I Feel Like You’d Have to Talk to Your Doctor About This”: Young People’s Perspectives on Over-the-Counter Oral Contraception

On July 13, 2023, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved one brand of progestin-only oral contraception pills (OCPs) for over-the-counter (OTC) access without an age restriction. To inform health education messages and OTC implementation, we conducted a qualitative study with young people to better understand knowledge and preferences related to obtaining information about and accessing OCPs OTC.
