32. Adolescents With Chronic Illnesses: Discovering Eating Disorder Susceptibility and their Health Risks

Medical advances have improved survival rates and treatment outcomes for children and adolescents, with some leading to disease cure while others resulted in chronic conditions. Those, with chronic health conditions, particularly during adolescence might be at risk for emotional and psychological problems, contributing by their developments. During a critical period for body image concerns, they may be at risk of developing unhealthy eating behaviors and eating disorders. Research had shown that those with chronic illnesses were more prone to these issues compared to their healthier peers.
