146. Gaps in Communication About Sexual Health and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Between Adolescent Sexual Minority and Gender Diverse Assigned Males and Primary Care Providers

Adolescent sexual minority and/or gender diverse assigned males (ASM/GDM) are at increased risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, compared to other groups in the United States (US). HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a safe and highly effective HIV prevention strategy for adolescents. However, uptake among ASM/GDM remains low. Sexual health communication (SHC) with primary care providers (PCPs) has been shown to decrease the risk of acquiring STIs among adolescents by increasing condom use and STI testing/treatment.
