Minimalistic Hybrid Approach for the Percutaneous Treatment of Coronary Chronic Total Occlusions: Midterm Follow-Up of an International Multicenter Cohort
The progressive aging of the population and the increased survival of patients with complex coronary artery disease have a crucial role in the epidemiology of coronary chronic total occlusions (CTOs) that can be found in around 20% of patients who underwent coronary angiography.1 The success rates of CTO percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have favorably increased in the last decade with the evolution of techniques and the development of shared algorithms for standardized approach to CTO. Nowadays, in the hands of a dedicated expert operator, the success rate can reach over 90%.
