Atrial fibrillation (AF) is commonly seen in patients with atrial septal defect (ASD), regardless of ASD type or status of repair. This is likely because of shunt related atria remodeling leading to atrial fibrillation. There are limited data available on the trends in outcomes of ASD patients with AF.
