Isotretinoin is not associated with inflammatory bowel disease even when compared with topical antibiotics and topical retinoids

To the Editor: We read with great interest the commentary of Lin et  al1 about our paper entitled: “Isotretinoin and the risk of inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome: a large-scale global study.”2 Throughout the last decades, the dermatologic community has struggled with considerable controversy regarding the risk of inflammatory bowel diseas e (IBD) among patients treated with isotretinoin. Previous observational studies yielded inconsistent observations.3
