Choosing the right questions – a systematic review of patient reported outcome measures used in radiotherapy and proton beam therapy
Cancer survival is at its highest due to earlier detection and advancing treatment options [1]. By 2030, it is projected that there will be more than 4 million cancer survivors in the United Kingdom (UK), and 13.7 million in the United States (USA) [1, [2]. Radiotherapy has been shown to be an effective treatment technique with 40% of cancer patients receiving it as part of their treatment [3]. Despite its effectiveness, many patients experience acute and long-term physical and psychological toxicities, impacting their health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) [2].
