Review of Anticoagulant Prescribing Patterns in New Onset Atrial Fibrillation After Cardiac Surgery

CONCLUSIONS: In patients who developed POAF after cardiac surgery, a minority of patients were prescribed an OAC with warfarin being the most common agent. OAC initiation was associated with increased bleeding risk, warranting special consideration when assessing a patient's risk of stroke with the increased risk of bleeding, particularly in the post-operative period.PMID:38081497 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2023.11.031
