53. Submental intubation in orthognathic surgery: A 17 year experience
Oral& maxillofacial surgery often involve surgeons and anaesthetists working in the same area hence securing the airway is critical for the patient. Endotracheal intubation with either oral or nasal tubes are often used. However in orthognathic cases, submental intubation allows precise assessment of midline, incisal display, cant and passive nasolabial complex.
