P074 Revisiting the role of submental intubation (SMI) in oral and maxillofacial surgery
Airway management in maxillofacial patients may be challenging. Communication between anaesthetist and surgeon is paramount as both parties share the airway. SMI described by Altemir is a reliable intubation technique with low morbidity providing unrestricted access to the facial skeleton and avoids the need for tracheostomy.
