FMRP phosphorylation modulates neuronal translation through YTHDF1

YTHDF1, a main m6A reader protein, exerts stimulation-induced translation modulation function. Zou et  al. show that FMRP binds to YTHDF1 and inhibits its condensation with ribosomal proteins. FMRP serine 499 phosphorylation reverses this effect. YTHDF1 inhibition rebalances the hyperactive translation in FMRP-deficient FXS organoid models and rescues the developmental defects.
