Reply – Letter to the editor: Reconsidering 1.2–1.5 g/kg as beneficially high protein provision in critically ill patients
We thank Lee et al. for their interest in our systematic review and meta-analysis (SRMA) [1]. As discussed in our SRMA, the vast majority of observational studies had at least a serious risk of bias due to confounding, which underlies the nature of the study design. We upfront decided to include a wide variety of study designs to specifically evaluate the current support for the guideline of ≥1.2 g/kg of protein, which lacks sufficient RCT's. The risk of publication bias was assessed by visual inspection of funnel plots and Egger's tests (Supplementary File 4).
