Central node dissection from the perspective of lateral neck node metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma

Controversy exists on how to handle central lymph nodes in papillary thyroid carcinoma, particularly regarding indications for prophylactic central neck dissection (CND). Central node metastases are more difficult to diagnose preoperatively than lateral node metastases.
