We agree that retrospective database-driven studies have inherent disadvantages such as selection bias and the inability to establish causality, as outlined within our discussion section. Yet, this study approach remains one of the best options to explore our initial research question, as a prospective cohort study or randomized control trial would be difficult in pediatric patients.
