Commentary to Individualized care for patients with intersex (differences of sex development): Diagnosis and treatment of aphallia

This article represents the fifth in a series devoted to the complicated and often nuanced care of children born intersex or with variations in their sex characteristics (1). Articles that are an “n of one” are often difficult from which to make broad generalizations. This article contains a patient that many may not consider as intersex and rather having a midline defect in development, however the impact and implication on the child and future adult, family and medical team remain well within this wheelhouse.
