Immediate postpartum sterilization after vaginal delivery in the pre-covid and covid periods in new york

Approximately 40 –60% of patients who request postpartum sterilization during antenatal care receive it following vaginal delivery. Barriers to receipt are amplified in marginalized communities. The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately affected such communities. The primary objective of this study is to examine pr e-COVID versus COVID-era differences in the incidence of postpartum sterilization following vaginal delivery. The secondary objective of this study is to determine whether patient sociodemographic characteristics impacted receipt of sterilization.
