A systematic literature review and meta-analysis of the effect of physical interventions on the intrinsic foot muscles

Introduction: The intrinsic foot muscles are important contributors to foot function. Smaller and weaker intrinsic foot muscles have been reported in individuals with plantar heel pain, hallux valgus and diabetes. Identifying interventions that improve intrinsic foot muscle size and strength may improve management of these conditions. This systematic review evaluated the effect of physical interventions on the intrinsic foot muscles.
