Development and External Validation of the KOOS-ACL for Young Active Patients with ACL Tears

Introduction: The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcomes Score (KOOS) is a widely used outcome measure for assessing patients of all ages with a variety of knee conditions. The relevance and interpretability of the KOOS for young active patients with ACL injuries has been questioned. Further, the KOOS does not have adequate structural validity for use in this specific population. Therefore, the purpose of these studies was to develop a short form, condition-specific version of the KOOS appropriate for high functioning ACL patients: the KOOS-ACL.
